The West10 Way is comprehensive strength and conditioning programming designed for athletes, as well as everyday people looking to increase their fitness level, thereby improving their quality of life. This means our workouts primarily consist of exercises that translate perfectly into movements performed in everyday life or sports. We believe in utilizing the highest R.O.I exercises and movement patterns that educate our members to train “smarter, not longer”.
Essentially, the higher skill movements we see in CrossFit such as Olympic lifting, muscle ups and handstand push ups are also usually the most common “goats” that get neglected because of the basic fact they are harder to learn. While our average client usually still needs to learn basic functional movements (aka Level 1 movements) such as the deadlift, air squat, or how to efficiently use a skipping rope, after these basics are mastered we believe it’s very important to “eat the humble” pie and make mastering your weaknesses a high priority in our box. If you dedicate the time and learn to properly snatch, you most likely have built the motor skills necessary to deadlift, squat and perform other basic weight lifting exercises properly. This is what “Coach” Greg Glassman has coined the “Everything is Everything” top-down approach.
CrossFit West10 prides itself on a professional and passionate coaching staff. To ensure our members safety and continual development, we embody the 3 stages of correctly and effeciently developing fitness with our members.
Hitting that personal record (“PR”) back squat at the expense of a lower back strain isn’t impressive nor beneficial for your long term goals. Truth: The individual who leaves their ego at the door, respects the process of fitness, and makes efficient technique a priority over “going heavy before ready” WILL have more successful, long-term results.
