    Fitness is more than cardio, diets, and weight loss. It’s about health. Fitness encapsulates 10 pillars: accuracy, agility, balance, cardiovascular endurance, coordination, mobility, power, speed, stamina, and strength.
    When I first joined CrossFit, I knew I was in for a challenge. Of the 10 fitness components, I needed significant improvements to nine of them. And, the one element I do have is the one I (once) devalued the most. Mobility. I underestimated the role and importance of mobility in fitness.
    Flexibility helps the body maintain a state of balance. It is key to long-term health, and is critical for performance. It improves recovery, joint health, and range of motion. Good mobility is the foundation to moving better; and when you move better, you get stronger and fitter faster. Specifically, flexibility affects agility and balance.
    Overlooking mobility can lead to greater risks for injury.
